The Utility's Engineering and Mapping assists with planning for future utility (water, sewer, gas) improvements, assuring current utility improvements meeting quality standards, and maintaining maps and records of the utility infrastructure.

We are investigating several areas on our system which we suspect are problem areas and are coming up with solutions and actions to make our utility work more efficiently.

INTERNAL
ASSISTS IN PLANNING FOR UTILITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS:

  • provides the engineering plans, CAD drafting services, and specifications
  • obtains permits
  • assists with bid documents, agreements, and contract management
  • maintains digital hydraulic models of Rockwood's utility systems to evaluate the impact of planned improvements

EXTERNAL
ASSURES UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS ARE MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS:

  • reviews plans and works with developers and engineers on new projects for construction
  • inspects the Utility improvement projects

MAINTAINS MAPS AND RECORDS OF THE UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE

  • maintains the new sevice connection information on the Utility's system maps
  • Updates inprovements and additions to the Utility's system maps

The following are examples of some of the work we are doing within our system.

One of our areas of investigation is our Sewer System. We are smoke testing our entire system to find and respond to problems within our sewer system.
